Just Can't Live Without...Goody StayPut Metallic Wide No Slide Headwrap

I convinced my husband that it would be a wonderful idea to sign up for Cycle for Survival, a local indoor cycling race that benefits Sloan-Kettering Cancer Research Center. It required him to wake up at 6:30 am on a Sunday, otherwise, he was all about it.

In order to get "pumped up" for our Spinning extravaganza, I dragged him out of bed many a day to practice Spinning. I begged him to buy padded shorts and I even offered to buy them for him. But no, he "didn't need them." After months of Spinning, lifting and getting our bodies ready to rock, we woke up yesterday (Sunday) and headed over the Equinox Fitness Center in mid-town, so that the ride could begin!

I took the first two hours and my husband took the second two hours of the ride. What saved me during my two hours of jumps, sweat and sprints? It wasn't my spandex hot pants, although they are hot, or my million year old sport's bra that I refuse to throw out, but it was the cheapest thing on my entire body; my Goody Stayput Wide Metallic No Slide Headwrap. This super soft and stretchy headband kept my baby bangs back and the sweat controlled, so it wasn't dripping down my face. It stayed in place and didn't distract me at all during the race (very key).

I spun for two hours, no breaks, and then my husband took over and completed the additional two hours. I could have ridden the bike for all four. Today we (meaning everyone who spun) raised around 2.2 million dollars! Never underestimate the power of driven spinners! I can't wait until the next indoor Spinning race! Soul Cycle - are you listening???

When we got home, soaking wet and craving pizza, my No Slide HeadWrap was very easy to clean. All I needed was a dash of soap and water in the sink, and I let it simply air dry. Now, when I work out I won't hit the gym without a headwrap!

Check me out making my riding debut!

"There must be quite a few things a hot bath won't cure, but I don't know many of them." - from Sylvia Plath's The Bell Jar

My husband and I just returned from a fabulous ten day holiday in Spain!

We traveled from Barcelona to San Sebastian. We drove through the stunning French country side into Toulouse, the fourth largest city in France. We ate like kings or like piglets, depending on how you look at it.

While hunting for a late night fine dining establishment day after Christmas, we learned a very valuable lesson - Europeans take Christmas very seriously! Almost everything was closed, Maoz Falafel, Starbucks, McDonald's, you name it! With the Christmas holiday still fresh, my husband and I had very few dining choices. We were starving after a long drive. At that point in the evening, I would have been thrilled to rob a vending machine or dine on Luna Bars. However, my husband wanted a "real meal", so he escorted me into one of the only restaurants open in town a.k.a. RED FLAG #1.

The minute we stepped into this Beauty and the Beast style traditional French bistro, I begged to leave! I could tell that there was something fishy about this dining establishment. Perhaps it was the large nude Romanesque statues hovering over us, or the lack of other patrons, but I new that this dinner wouldn't be the dreamy French dining experience I had envisioned. Needless to say, hours later I had food poisoning.

I spent the night sick (understatement) and when I woke up I went straight for a steamy bath. The beauty products that resurrected me and helped bring me back to life after a gross spat of food poisoning are items I now owe my health and vacation to, including:

Sometimes beauty can be the best medicine!
