My Hunt for the Perfect Red Lip

My boss often says that bright red lips are one of those statements men will never understand, like flouncy floral tops and animal print. They fall into the category that I've deemed "girl cute" vs. "boy cute." However, I work in an office of almost exclusively women (sorry David & Danny), where red lipstick rules, as do bright floral tops, skinny jeans and super high heels.

Between the beauty and fashion teams, we are constantly on the hunt for the perfect red lip color. It can be a lipstick, lip gloss, creamy pencil or a recipe of all three.

Just Another Manic Monday - Saved by Korres Guava Lipstick

I try to make the weekend last as long as I can, so on Sunday night I do my best to soak up the last few hours of freedom before I head back to work!

Then daylight savings hits - one less hour of sleep! My Monday morning is totally thrown off. Oh, it's just another manic Monday...

While getting dressed at the gym, I realize that my makeup bag is actually sitting on my dresser and is not in my overstuffed gym bag, where I thought it was. I am left with a lone lipstick, but it turns out to be the perfect piece to pretty up my pout!

I love lip stains! You apply them in the early AM and hours later the same lip color is still vibrant, and perfectly in place. I have to say, I've tried my fare share of lip stains and most dry out lips, cause feathering and chapping. It's a challenge to find a beauty gem that also provides "wow" color to brighten up a glooming, rainy day!

This spring, I've discovered the perfect hot pink to heat up the freezing weather and bring out Spring, at least in my makeup.

Givenchy Printed Lips Tinted Lip Stainer is a richly pigmented tint that goes on smoothly and with great accuracy. My advice: apply SLOWLY! If you color outside of the lip line, make sure you have a Q-tip handy and possibly some makeup remover. But you don't have to be a fabulous artist to get the job done right.

For the Love of Lipstick

I probably own about 50 or so lip glosses, lipsticks, fat lip pencils, lip sheens, well you get the idea…But, unless I can’t live without them, they somehow end up in the bottom of last season’s Marc Jacob’s bag or buried in the depths of my makeup drawer.

I recently discovered Lincent Longo’s Wet Pearl Lipstick SPF 20 and I haven’t let it out of my sight since.

This lipstick consistency feels like cashmere on my lips as I apply it. Wet Pearl Lipstick SPF 20 leaves my lips with vibrant color, a hint of shimmer, but unlike a traditional matte or cream lipstick it doesn’t dry lips out.

And in the summer months, when lounging by the beach is my second job, I love that this lipstick has SPF 20 to protect my precious pout from burning or drying out. It contains Safflower Seed Oil, Aloe Vera, Vitamin E and Chamomile Extract to nourish, hydrate and leave my lips with a gloss-like shine.
