Just Can't Live Without...Origins Gloomaway Grapefruit Body Souffle

By TheGlamtastic · March 2, 2010 · 0 Comments ·
I love the snow when I'm snuggled up in my sweats watching re-runs of The Real Housewives of Orange County, but when I'm hiking through hills of snow and trying to avoid patches of ice on my way to work, I don't love it so much! In fact, when I step my stiletto into a big puddle of melting brown snow - I HATE the snow.

With mountains of snow and no sunlight to be seen, the days sure can seem gloomy. While my office is decked with fabulous florescent lighting that reminds me of the light over the dentist chair, it still feels a bit BLAH my early March.

At this time of year I need a pick me up! To cheer up my body and deeply hydrate dry, itchy and flaky skin, I've become a big fan of Origins Gloomaway Grapefruit Body Souffle. This ultra-light body hydrator feels like you're scooping up Cool Whip with your fingers and applying it to the skin.

It quickly absorbs into thirsty skin after a steamy shower or bath. It has the fresh, happy and clean scent of grapefruit that I've started to love! It's a unisex scent that if my husband used body lotion, he may even love.

It sounds cheesy but the ultra-clean white and vibrant yellow packaging even gives off happy vibes. Silly sounding I know, especially from someone who works in beauty and fashion PR full time, but light post-shower pampering products can make the day that much brighter!

As winter trudges along, I just can't live without Origins Gloomaway Grapefruit Body Souffle!

Are you a grapefruit girl or is there another body souffle you prefer? What moisturizer MUST we try? Tell us about it!!!

Shave It or Bare It?

It's freezing! Before I exit my apartment, I bundle up in my warmest Burberry scarf, earmuffs, hat and gloves, and zip myself into my "Marshmallow Man" coat. However, the minute I walk outside my freshly shaven, silky legs are covered in goose bumps! I HATE WINTER!

In the winter, most women I know spend so much time hydrating dry skin, exfoliating or just keeping warm, that shaving sometimes tumbles down the priority list and ends up landing near the bottom with trash old beauty magazines or clean out the fridge.

After polling my friends, I want some fresh data. I want to know what YOU think!!!

Pop Quiz:

When It comes to your legs, are you a:
A) Waxer
B) Shaver
C) Other ________________ (NAIR, Lazer Girl, Pray for the hair to stop growing, etc)

In the winter months, would you say that you shave your legs:
A) Once a week to avoid feeling like a guerilla
B) Every few days
C) Everyday - it's a must on my list

Your main motivation for shaving your legs is:
A) Hygiene
B) I don't want to get caught in a make-out session with hairy legs
C) I prefer the way it looks and feels

After spending my Valentine's Day in a tight, hot pink belted Rebecca Taylor dress (yes, it was so hot), black stockings and super high booties, my silky legs were shaking and I was craving a hoodie! Apparently, that's not a sexy look. Who knew?!

Tell us your winter beauty secrets! When it comes to winter beauty maintenance, would you prefer to shave it or bare it?

A Gift for You, La Mer for Me

By TheGlamtastic · December 15, 2009 · 0 Comments ·
We've all been caught in the vicious shopping cycle, one gift for you and one gift for me.

After purchasing a little something for my hubby this weekend, I was running through the department store's first floor, which during the holiday season resembles the floor of the New York Stock Exchange pre-computers. Everyone was scurrying around, waving their lists and tossing their handbags. Before I knew it, I was standing in front of the La Mer counter.

Now, I've worked in beauty for the past five years and can say that I've tried practically every lotion and potion marketed in the U.S. and some abroad, but I had been holding out on actually purchasing La Mer on principle. Why should my moisturizer cost as much as my Tory Burch flats? That just seems crazy!

However, as of last Saturday, I have been converted! I am now in love with La Mer! I purchased my very own La Mer The Moisturizing Gel Cream for a whopping $230 plus tax. I cleansed my skin and applied a super small amount of product, practically the size of a pearl or two, once a day before bed.

I came into work on Monday to tell my co-workers about my conversion to La Mer, but the results were all over my face. After only a few days of usage (I am not kidding), my skin was intensely hydrated, less red, less dry. My skin appeared softer and was silky to the touch.

I guess you can put a price on beautiful skin and it's $230. Worth every penny!

What's your holiday splurge?

Must Try, Beauty Buy, You Decide

By TheGlamtastic · November 16, 2009 · 0 Comments ·
Must-Try:
My dermatologist has always warned me NOT to lick my lips in the winter because it will intensify the dry, itchy feeling that entices me to bite and run my fingers over my cracked, little lips. Not a sexy smile!

This winter, there's a secret, super-inexpensive, multi-tasking moisturizer that is safe and gentle enough to use on your lips. Aquaphor Healing Ointment helps to soothe and protect dry, irritated lips and seals in moisture. This multi-tasking drugstore treatment also works well to heal chapped skin on the arms, knees, heels...you name it! It's also fragrance and preservative free - love that!

Beauty Buy:
There's one lip love in my life that has never lost its charm, or it's effectiveness! Rosebud Salve is a cult-classic lip balm that conditions, calms and cools my dry and irritated lips upon contact. It's also one of those mutli-tasking skin savers that has been used to soothe everything from burns to diaper rash! I can't testify to the two above uses (burns and diaper rash), but I can say it keeps my smile smooth and dry skin soothed all winter long!

It also has a light scent, which I love! Not to strong, not to faint! It's a perfect rose.

You Decide:
How many steps would you take to achieve lovely lips in the winter? Layers of creams, exfoliants, lotions and potions? Benefit Lipscription is a dynamic duo that smoothes and soothes lips, and then enhances volume and plumps them up. This two step process begins by buffing the dry skin off of the lips with jojoba-enriched scrubbing beads. Rub lightly, no need to scrub away your lips or irritate the area even more! Once the dead skin has been removed, slather on a layer of soothing lip balm that hydrates and plumps simultaneously. As a on-the-go girl, is this lip enhancer worth the steps and the fuss?

Is this a winter must buy or a product you'd pass by?

Tried it? Loved it? Tell us about it!!!
